Description

Abstract: The Troll Salmon Management program was established in FY 1967 as a joint state-federal activity concerned with research and management of Oregon's ocean salmon fishery. It continued with federal participation authorized by provisions of the Anadromous Fisheries Act, PL 89-304, through FY 1969. The program conducted in FY 1969 had a general format characteristic of this investigation since its inception. The format includes: (1) annually conducted activities such as collecting, processing and analyzing catch statistics, age composition and mark sampling information; and (2) periodic short-term studies on subjects such as the origin and movements of salmon in the ocean, the amount of mortality suffered by salmon released after incidental capture and the reduction of mortality resulting from the use of barbless hooks.
