Description
- Abstract: Most of this period has been spent in reading chinook scales and
calculat1ng the age composition and growth of the chinook salmon in
the commercial catch. All of the 1948 scale samples have been read,
checked and calculated and the 1949 samples are almost completed. Same
scales from 1950 have been mounted and v11l be read in the future.
These three years, combined with samples taken during 1946 and 1947,
should give an adequate picture of the age composition and growth of
these fish. In addition many scale samples were taken on tagging tripe
during 1950 and 1951 which will, when analyzed, give additional data
and eliminate the selective effect of the size limit on growth computations.
Also the ages of the tagged chinook and their recovery will
give us much greatly needed information on the maturity of the fish.
