Description

Abstract: Oregon pink shrimp (PandaZus jordani) landings in 1979 were 29,416,946 pounds (13,343 mt), slightly more than half (52%) of the total shrimp landings for Oregon in 1978 (Lukas, 1978). Although landings declined below the previous two record years, the 1979 total was the third highest on record (Figure 1, Table 1). Reduced availability of shrimp was the major probable cause for decreased total landings this season. Poor weather influenced fishing effort and adverse environmental conditions reduced the availability of shrimp to the gear.
