- Abstract: The title of the investigation was changed from Otter Trawl Investigations to Groundfish and Shrimp Investigations. Jim Meehann's title was changed from Project Leader to Program Leader. Jack Robinson was designated Project Leader for management studies and Bob Demory was designated Project Leader for research. Meehan, Robinson, Demory, Lukas, and Forsberg were transferred to the new laboratory in Newport. Mike Hosie vacated the Aquatic Biologist I position on the PL 88-309 shrimp study in July.
Seasonal employees included Meyer Ueoka for the April-September season in Coos Bay and John Johnson during the June-September period in Astoria.
Oregon's trawl fleet increased to 93 vessels in 1970 (Table 1).
