Description
- Abstract: The Troll Salmon Management Program was established in FY 1967 as a joint state-federal activity concerned with research and management of Oregon's ocean salmon fishery. It continued with federal participation authorized by provisions of the Anadromous Fisheries Act, PL 89-304, through FY 1973. Information from this program is used to develop appropriate management options designed to achieve the wisest use of the ocean salmon resource.
The 1973 Troll Salmon Management Program followed the basic format characteristic of this investigation since its inception. Two major activities were pursued. They were: (1) annually conducted activities such as collecting, processing, and analyzing catch statistics, determining Chinook age composition, and sampling the fishery for marks and coded-wire tags; and (2) short-term studies on subjects such as a tag-retention evaluation and migration analysis of past salmon tagging studios.
