Description

Abstract: It was pointed out in the initial proposal of the State/Federal Dungeness crab management program that "the contribution to the fishery, of segments of the resource found in shallow or deep water is not well understood, nor is the potential exchange between fishing areas along the coast." A better understanding of these relationships is needed to evaluate the potential impact of management options on the different crab fisheries. Presented here is a summary of the available information dealing with Dungeness crab movements in waters off British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and California.
