Description
- Abstract: Sport use of marine food fish, shellfish, and miscellaneous invertebrates was
estimated in 15 Oregon estuaries in terms of catch, user trips and hours of
effort. User origin was also determined. Boat, shore, tideflat and scuba
fisheries were sampled from March through October. The anadromous sport
fisheries in most estuaries were not included. Sampling procedures were
tailored to each estuary.
The value of the study was twofold; it provided (1) input into estuary
planning and zoning and (2) data for estuarine resource management. A future
study should include the entire estuary, all fisheries and economic
evaluations.
