Abstract: The 2002 shrimp season will begin 1 April and extend through 31 October. This newsletter includes a traditional summary of the 2001 season for your review, including catch, effort, market sample information and possible indicators for the 2002 season. We also discuss the successes and failures of the BRD (Bycatch Reduction Device) temporary rule requirement that was instituted on August 1, 2001 and possible adjustments for the upcoming season.
