Abstract: The statistics presented in this publication provide Information on the amount and value of commercial food fish landings in the State of Oregon In 1995. This Information is frequently requested by various government, Industry or private user groups for resource management, marketing, land use planning or other needs. We have not attempted to explain management objectives, harvest methods or trends in the commercial fisheries. The joint efforts of many persons were required to assemble this material - the commercial fishing industry, wholesale fish and bait dealers and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife personnel. Data processing specialists prepared landing records for data entry and monitored the timeliness and accuracy of the records. Data entry personnel spent many hours entering the record Information on the computer data base and Department management biologists reviewed the accuracy of the reported information. The authors would like to acknowledge the efforts of three Individuals In particular who played key roles In the processing and quality of the data in this report and in past years Pounds and Value reports. The three are: • Dave Judkins, who developed most of the programs used in landings data processing and reporting. Dave's quick and highly competent programming talents have helped Immeasurably In keeping the data processing and report generation of a very complex system running smoothly. • Romy Grover, the lead person responsible for processing fish tickets before and after data entry, In addition to handling all the peripheral activities associated with the fish ticket system. Romy is a very competent and conscientious data specialist who excels at moving the ticket records through the process, maintaining attentiveness to detail, follow-up, and resolution, so necessary for a timely, accurate data base. • Kathy Murphy, a data technician in the Marine Program at Newport, who among her many duties, is also responsible for processing the complex Groundflsh fish tickets in concert with the commercial fish data base In Portland. Kathy is very dedicated, detailed, and careful in her job and provides an invaluable service helping to maintain the accuracy of the groundflsh portion of the commercial fish data base. Their knowledge, expertise and highly conscientious efforts through the years have played a large part in insuring that the Oregon commercial fisheries data base is one of the most accurate and timely data bases on the Pacific coast. The efforts of all three are greatly appreciated.
