Description

Abstract: This dataset was developed for coarse spatial understanding of bay clam beds used by recreational users. The target audience is recreational users, resource managers, and estuarine scientists. It is currently most often used by recreational users looking for clamming areas. Keywords: shellfish, clams, coos bay, tillamook bay, alsea bay, yaquina bay, umpqua bay, siuslaw bay, digging.

Purpose: Defining polygons of "clamming beds" used by recreational "bay clam" diggers within Oregon.

Time Period of Content:

Geographic Extent: Oregon estuaries

Status: Draft

Use Constraints: Clamming areas for razor clams, subtidal harvest, and commercial clammers are not defined with this dataset. Further, there may be other clam beds that are not frequently used that are not included.

Format: ESRI ArcGIS polygon shapefile
