Description
- Abstract: July, August and September, 1954, sixty-two Cascade Mountain lakes were surveyed by the Oregon State Game Commission to collect basic data necessarily for the future management of existing trout populations. The survey was devoted to the examination of fish populations, recording water temperatures, physical characteristics and obtaining miscellaneous information pertinent to each lake. The authors spent forty-three working days from July 8 to September 9, 1954 conducting the survey and eleven working days repairing equipment and moving camp to new locations. The location and size of lakes varied. The area of the lakes surveyed ranged from 1 to 85S surface acres Elevation ranged from 4,500 feet to 6,400 feet. Thirty-two lakes were located in the Willamette National Forest in Watershed 2 and thirty were located in Watershed 5 in the Deschutes National Forest. Page 3 contains the names of lakes arranged tn alphabetical order. The survey procedure and analysis was identical to the high lake survey of 1953.
