Description
- Abstract: Identifying whether water-borne bacteria comes from human or animal sources helps pinpoint the location of fecal contamination in a watershed. Different bacteria have different levels of resistance to antibiotics. This study subjected water samples from river mouths in the Tillamook watershed to a variety of antibiotics to determine the likely origin of the bacteria. Accuracy tests indicate this method is a promising tool for finding pollution sources.
