Description
- Abstract: Killin Wetlands is a former agricultural site that has been under restoration by Metro since its acquisition in 1996. This report contains results from point counts, area searches, and territory mapping, which I conducted to evaluate restoration effects on Willow Flycatchers (Empidonax trailii), a species listed as vulnerable by ODFW. During both years of area searches, most of the males occupied the northern section of the wetland where shrub cover, willow density, and canopy height were greater than in the southern section. Males selected areas for territories that had greater numbers of woody stems, especially Oregon ash (Fraxinus latifolia), Piper willow (Salix piperi), and Sitka willow (Salix sitchensis), than unused sites. In addition to Willow Flycatchers, I present data for all birds detected during the breeding seasons of 2009 and 2010.
