Description

Dark vermilion red dorsally. Red sides mottled with gray. Red mouth and fins, with fins often edged with black. Three obscure orange stripes radiating from each eye. Deep caudal peduncle. Rough, scaly lower jaw.

SizeTo 76 cm (30 inches).

Range/Habitat

Southeast Alaska to Baja California.

Depth

100 to 150 fathoms.

Remarks

Distinguished in the field from Canary RockFish and Yelloweye Rockfish by rough scales on lower jaw and vermilion red coloration.
