Project Objectives

Fishery management plans for commercial and recreational salmon fisheries off California, Oregon, Washington, Canada, and Alaska have emphasized the need for information concerning the distribution of salmon stocks in the ocean and the contribution of each of those stocks to various fisheries. Our objectives are to:

1.) Recommend stocks for hatchery propagation and enhancement.

2.) Recommend rearing and release strategies that will help to improve the survival rate of hatchery-produced smolts.

3.) Establish a comprensive long-term database that will provide information needed to address issues of biology, allocation, and conservation.
