Description | Variable coloration, dark brown or olive brown to copper with pink or yellow blotches, white undersides. Dorsal fins dark copper brown to black with some white. Rear two thirds of lateral line is light. Fish from South of Point Blanco, OR often have more pronounced (deeply incised) spines and have orange-pink and coppery-yellow coloration and a dark vee behind the eye. |

Range/Habitat | Gulf of Alaska to Baja, California |
Depth | Shallow waters to 100 fm. Common in rocky, shallow water areas. |
